Our Commitment to Privacy

Windsor Family Health Team (WFHT) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of the personal information and personal health information entrusted to us. As a Health Information Custodian under Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA), we collect, use, and disclose information only as permitted or required by law.

Use of Video Surveillance

WFHT operates video surveillance cameras in limited areas of our facilities for the purposes of:

• Ensuring the safety and security of patients, staff, and visitors
• Protecting clinic property and assets
• Supporting incident investigation where necessary

Video surveillance is not used to monitor clinical care and cameras are not installed in exam rooms, treatment rooms, or washrooms.

What Information Is Collected

Video surveillance systems may capture images of individuals entering, exiting, or present in monitored areas. In some cases, this may constitute personal information or personal health information under PHIPA.

Audio recording is not conducted unless explicitly stated.

Limiting Collection and Access

WFHT limits surveillance to areas where it is reasonably necessary to achieve safety and security purposes. Access to recorded footage is strictly restricted to authorized personnel on a need-to-know basis.

Video recordings are:

• Securely stored
• Protected by appropriate physical, technical, and administrative safeguards
• Retained only for a limited period consistent with our retention policy, unless required for investigation or legal purposes

Disclosure of Footage

Video recordings may be reviewed internally for safety or security incidents. In limited circumstances, footage may be disclosed to law enforcement or other authorized parties where permitted or required by law.
